Prairie Souls

A celebration of art and wine, inspired by the people and lifestyle of the Canadian Prairies.

The first edition of the wine label features Albertan and Peace Region resident, Suzanne Sandboe, an award winning artist who has been exhibiting and selling her artwork for the past 30 years. Her paintings are inspired by the beautiful Canadian landscape, the people and their history.

Two of Suzanne's pieces will be on the labels this summer in limited quantities.
Another seasonal release with two additional pieces will be featured in the fall.

The wine is internationally sourced, single varietal, vintage wines that match the richness and authenticity of the food grown and raised on this great land. Our first release has a 2022 Chardonnay and a 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon, both from 5th generation family vintners, The Scotto family of Lodi, California. Our inspiration is deep, rich wine that enhances the food on the plate, and life's more subtle, quiet moments.

We are excited to launch this wine project in the summer of 2024, where we hope the wine will be featured in the rural restaurants we love and in wine shops around Alberta. This page will be updated with places to purchase as we help partners bring in our wine and join in this celebration of our home!

"A Breezy Day"

- 2022 Chardonnay -

features a grain elevator from Sexsmith, Alberta,

An expressive and floral nose of mandarin orange and tropical white flowers. Medium to full bodied, this is a fresher style of the classic Chardonnay. Green apple, ripe pear on the palate with a lingering citrus finish.

"An Old Friend"

 - 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon -

depicts a farming windmill from near artist's family homestead in the Peace Region

On the nose, black fruits prevail: black cherry, black currant and black berries, with a hint of dark chocolate and anise. This wine has medium acid, which makes it a balanced  but rich and full bodied Cabernet with underlying feel of mixed warm herbs on the finish.
